I remember my professors at the AUC talking about how difficult it was to get published as an Arab female writer if they weren’t writing about either: 
oppression, or
escaping oppression
Proof of that is above. God forbid there be some other story of interest to tell. 

I’m actually noticing heavy exoticisation archetypes in the FONT chosen.

So much of this! I mean, in many places Muslimahs ARE oppressed, but that is certainly NOT the totality of the Muslimah experience.i want to hear all about it. Just like the entire Christian experience is not only one thing, like going to Church. There’s more to it.
